Job Description

To ensure all equipment and facilities operate to specification or work as intended. Out of service conditions including breakdowns are resolved quickly efficiently, in a cost-effective manner to allow production, quality, cost and delivery targets to be met. Contributes to the improved operation of equipment, processes and facilities at Softbox Systems.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Promptly attend and resolve breakdowns during assigned shift, returning equipment quickly to a useable/serviceable level to meet production, quality, cost and delivery targets.
  • Work with the Facilities Manager to setup preventative and routine maintenance plans and other documentation for all equipment, buildings and facilities.
  • Conduct all assigned preventive and routine maintenance activities to ensure equipment meets operating specification or requirements.
  • Confirm and sustain equipment and process capability
  • Setup training courses and train production staff to perform first line maintenance activities.
  • Mentor production staff in the performance of first line maintenance activities, periodically review staff, highlight deficiencies and retrain.
  • Identify opportunities for the improvement of equipment and facilities, reducing downtime, setup time and cost..
  • Report any out of control conditions to the appropriate management including failure to follow maintenance schedules.
  • Update the Pirana Computerised Maintenance Management Systems with job related information e.g. breakdowns, spares, time spent on jobs and resource usage.
  • Manage external buildings, service and maintenance contractors to ensure the tasks they perform meet the specification or requirement.

Person Specification

  • Has a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a production facility
  • B-Tec National certificate (ONC) in an electrical or mechanical engineering subject
  • Can read and understand electrical, pneumatic and mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Working knowledge of electrical single or 3 phase system.
  • Can fault find on electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems to component level even when unfamiliar with the equipment.
  • Competent in plumbing and pipe fitting
  • Can identify and order spare, replacement or alternative parts.
  • Can repair and or modify equipment to meet or exceed specification
  • Has used experience or using ERP systems to raise purchase orders
  • Can work alone, manage day to day tasks and supervise others in the performance of maintenance activities
  • Can train other to perform maintenance first line tasks
  • Is proficient at planning prioritising activities in a high-pressure situation
  • Can clearly communicate both written and verbally what is required
  • Can use e-mail, Word and Excel to a good standard
  • Good attention to detail and good manual dexterity
